✏️ Course Description

This course aims to bridge the gap between the educational environment and the real world.

Through establishing values, setting career goals and mapping those to the current professional landscape (yes, even during a global pandemic), each student will equip themselves with the tools and practices needed to navigate the contemporary design industry.

Topics that will be covered through discussion, lectures, and workshops include but are not limited to: personal messaging, professional ethics, copyright, pricing, meandering career paths, direct wage transparency, The American Dream™, building confidence, how to send a really really good email, how to negotiate a tolerable salary, how golden handcuffs feel when rubbed gently against the skin, and what you should post on your Instagram feed.

Students will be exposed to a variety of practice models through assigned readings, pre-recorded talks, as well as live lectures and presentations, from living, breathing, working solo practitioners and small studios to in-house teams and large agencies.
